Who is a dietitian nutritionist and what does he do?

A dietitian nutritionist is that expert in the medical field who deals with the nutrition of the human body.

A nutritionist is especially concerned with the nutrition of healthy people by promoting healthy nutrition with the goal of preventing disease. The nutrition of sick people and their specific diets are the responsibility of the dietician.

The work of a nutritionist is very close to that of a dietitian, both collaborating with other medical professionals to ensure balanced nutrition in accordance with the latest findings in this field.

When do you need the help of a dietitian nutritionist?

From the start it can be stated that any person needs the support of a nutritionist for a period of time. This necessity is all the more striking as the population presents increased risks of illness, primarily chronic diseases and as it is more engaged in this contemporary lifestyle characterized by sedentary lifestyle, priority consumption of processed foods and richer in sugar, salt and fat like never before, insufficient and poor quality sleep imposed by a constant crescendo of stress.

All these situations would be greatly diminished or even non-existent if there were continuous nutritional education starting from early childhood, continuing at school and later in society. When he becomes an adult, man would be much more responsible for what, how much and how he eats.

Even now, when you have reached adulthood, a nutritionist remains your friend. He supports you so that you live a longer and much improved life.

The dietician comes into play when the body shows symptoms of illness. In case of illness, the dietician's help is particularly important. He will provide an adequate diet to restore the nutrient levels that have been affected by the disease. The body receiving the nutrients it needs and in the optimal amount will restore the altered functions. The state of well-being will be restored.

What are the benefits of working with a nutritionist-dietitian?

Based on medical analyses, medical letters attesting to a definite diagnosis, a nutritionist can initiate, after holding individual discussions with the patient, a personalized diet that will provide adequate nutritional support to the patient's body. Depending on his health and nutritional needs.

A good dietitian is also a good nutritionist. The reverse is not always true. Because a nutritionist in most cases has not attended the courses of a higher medical institute, where only here he comes into contact with authentic medical information and becomes a dietician.

Understanding the subtle and deep mechanisms of a physiological and, respectively, a pathological process that takes place in the human body is of indisputable importance. Especially when a nutritional treatment is required.

Starting from the most important to the most insignificant chemical reactions in the body, a dietitian, understanding their value and the repercussions of their presence or absence, therefore knowing their "story", will be able to offer the optimal and safest solution alike.

There are a multitude of reasons to request a consultation with a nutritionist-dietitian

Most likely, the most frequent request is from overweight patients. It is a physically and aesthetically disturbing reason.

Some of these patients come after a long and variously "colored" path of diets that have maximum promises. Their failures in the sphere of weight maintenance achieved for most are accompanied by deficiencies and various inconveniences.

1. Pushed from behind by a necessity that no longer suffers postponement and does not foresee a viable solution

From here to falling into one of the following categories of applicants is just one more step. People with:

  • certain diseases and whose treatment offered by the specialist doctor is mandatory accompanied by a typical but personalized diet, such as in the case of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, digestive intolerances or to certain substances, hypercholesterolemia.

  • digestive problems: gastroesophageal reflux, heartburn, bloating, diarrhea, constipation

  • appetite disorders: lack of appetite, compulsive eating, food refusal - starvation

  • difficulties in ensuring the state of vitality and implicitly a quality sleep, both caused in the first instance by a bad digestion that does not ensure the real nutritional support of the body

2. Personal choices

Or maybe you are a practitioner of a performance sport and the constant physical effort requires a specialized diet.

And a gratifying fact, as a personal note, is the increasing awareness for an ever-increasing number of people of the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Now that you have come to seek this path, you are truly motivated! I know and even understand you that in the ocean of information that is struggling in the media, on the Internet and in various publications, it is difficult to be sure that your choices are the right ones. Here is indeed a valid and entirely worthwhile reason to approach a good nutritionist dietitian.

Closely related to the concern for healthy eating is the future of your children. You as a role model … and concern for their future health motivates you to take a different path and a dietitian nutritionist can effectively guide you to form healthy habits for your children.

And let's also remember the people who want to gain weight! They, the people with a thin and very thin body, unanimously state that it is very difficult for them to fulfill themselves physically. And they are right. Their metabolism is really different, sufficiently active-accelerated. In many cases, hidden causes can damage the intestinal absorption mechanisms. So if you belong to this category arm yourself with patience. Correctly chosen nutritional actions (one of them being food testing) and the time allocated to their application, together will be your allies.
